Re: ORIGO ALCOHOL STOVE

I'm redoing the interior of my boat and want one that functions well but also looks really nice.

1) I see scratches but are there any dents or rust?

2) Are all the parts there?

When you get one, you might also start looking for spare cans or pot holders or gimbals now because they are disappearing too.

Re: ORIGO ALCOHOL STOVE

I'm kinda paranoid of propane on a boat so I've been cooking with non-pressurized alcohol for about 5 years now. It takes longer to cook stuff, but I really like how simple and safe it is. It's sad to see Origo go down the tubes.

I totally agree! And, for me, the cooking time is just right; in the time it takes to do other stuff, my coffee is ready.

Are you aware that you can no longer buy cooking alcohol in California?

Re: ORIGO ALCOHOL STOVE

I just bought a gallon at West Marine yesterday. Pricey though now, now that there is less competition. $21/gallon

Yes, but I just scored 5 gallons from someone today for only $35.00. Yee hah! Some places outside of the big cities are still carrying it.

Channel Islands harbor, near Oxnard. Where did you get the 5 gallons?

Re: Origo Alcohol Stove

I think Seafit de3natured alcohol is 40% -60% methanyl. Do not breathe fumes.
QWhat is the percentage of ethanol in this product and what the remaining ingredients and what are the percentages of the remaining ingredients?

Asked by mgalyean 4 years ago

Verified Reply - Customer ServiceIt's 30-50% ethyl alcohol and 40-60% methanol.

It was a one time deal from a private party using the Offer Up app. Sunnyside is the brand. They sell the same brand and size on amazon for $77.60. Not sure if they deliver to California though.

Re: Origo Alcohol Stove

If you are still looking for an Origo stove, I just noticed this one for sale here in Toronto. I have no connection to the seller. Price is in Canadian dollars!

Re: Origo Alcohol Stove

For everyone looking for fuel in CA and elsewhere - I've always purchased just plain denatured alcohol from paint stores or the home depot for $20/gal. Is "cooking alcohol" anything different?
