Next Gen 5.5kW generator, San Diego CA

Complete system including options soundproof enclosure. 125 hours or so. Includes control panel, raw water system, Vetus exhaust, etc.

This is currently installed and operable on my vessel - thought I'd list it here before pulling it in case someone wants to see it in operation. It's on my to-do list to pull it out this winter but I can accelerate if need be.

Happy to take pics - previous owner installed & rarely used. I am switching to full solar so don't need it.

$5,000.

Are you having any problems with cycles? Does it put out a constant 60 cycles?
Do all your 120 volt equipment run properly? What year is the gen?
Thanks

No issues with the generator - it passed survey when I bought the boat in June; I just don't need it. I've run it a few times to keep things working (though the only real AC load on the boat is the 1.5kW water heater), and never had issues.

I'll see if I can track the mfg date next time I'm down at the boat (will take some pics too), but I suspect it's less than 5 years old.

Pete

Also: I'm not sure how I'd ship this thing to FL - there's a guy in Pensacola selling a 3.5kW NextGen over on Trawlerforum.com (no affiliation) so you might want to check that out too as it may be more cost effective than freighting across the country (assuming you can get by with 3.5kW).

Maybe a road trip for you and the family if you have a pickup? FL is a nice place, especially the keys during winter!

Re: Next Gen 5.5kW generator, San Diego CA

Cool! I see these Next Gen systems are fresh water cooled marine diesel powered by kubota..Ive been searching for a genset that was water cooled in order to build a combined heat/power system for off grid use and employ the water cooling to heat up a heat sink while generating electrical at the same time. Plus with the ability of the engine to burn waste oil or vegetable oil..

Thanks for the mention of this little 3.5K too!

If you want to harvest the cooling water heat, a 3.5 may not work or will take more to make it work.
They don’t have a fresh water pump, they rely on a thermal siphon to cool themselves, no pump, no thermostat.
