For Sale: monitor wind vane

I have a SS monitor wind vane first installed on our 36' Angleman Seawitch in 1978. We sailed the So. Pacific for 4 yrs and later loaned it to friends who sailed San Diego to Florida with it on their 44' Sparkmans Stevens sailboat. I feel it is basically in good shape. It will need a new pulley, ropes, vanes and the 4 supports necessary to mount the unit to the hull. That is all I see that is obvious although there may be more. I have photos in my I-phone which I will attempt to include. I do not know how to transfer pictures from my I-phone to this site but I can e-mail them if requested. I can be reached at 619 517 7577 if you have questions. I live in San Diego and the monitor is here. It may be old but it did perform flawlessly for us and for our friends. By the way our boat Seaforth was used in the movie Overboard with Angie Dickinson and Cliff Robertson in Tahiti in 1978. What a wonderful experience. My asking price is $750 although I am flexible.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate you advise. Hopefully some member will pick it up and use it successfully as we did. It was incredible to cruise with the silent helmsman at the wheel.

Mine may be just as old. I suggest it needs to have a "strut guard" added. This makes the cantilevered strut legs into a rigid triangle, minimizes the cantilever and prevents the welds from breaking. Mine cost $100 for the strut guard and fixing the welds.

By the way, the fourth picture down appears to show some tarnishing, a dark area. There is no tarnishing there. The chrome is clear. Al
