Problem with selling used pieces like this is thus.
There are 4 kinds of boaters - ones who have the $$$ but no skills, those who have both $$$ and skills, those who have neither and ones with skills but no $$$. Only the latter kind will be interested in this item. #1 will buy new and have it installed by pros. #2 will also buy new ans will install themselves. #3 will keep reading CF boatless.
Years ago I bought a similar windlass,
Nilsson 700, for about $600, down from the asking price of $900. I had $ for used but would never pay $2,500 for new and absolutely no skills even to check if it's good inside not to install it. I had a buddy though who was a
marine pro and helped me with both. I ended up only painting the outside prior to install as the insides were in perfect like new condition. Even freshly greased. The seller was a retired lobsterman I think.
And also what helped to make that deal was the fact that the seller lived only about 30 min drive from my house, otherwise I don't think I'd ever consider getting it shipped without even a cursory
inspection and connecting it to a car
battery to see if it works. Turned out to be a great buy, as I'm sure yours will be also but the logistics of finding the right buyer are tricky. Thus the wait to find such a right buyer. Hope it sells quickly as it looks like a
work horse.
