I bought a second hand katadyn 160e. The plan was to have a cheap water maker. We put a new membrane in and replaced all the seals and valves in the pump.

I ran it for testing 3 times for 1 hr each time and considered it to be a success.

The first real time it was run it went for maybe 45 mins until it started to make a very unhappy noise. The shaft from the motor into the speed reducer was damaged and that was the end of it.

So for sale is the entire water maker excluding the leeson motor and speed reducer.

To complicate matters we are in the Philippines so would have to freight to the buyer. I'd imagine freight to the USA is around $200.

I have no idea of what this would be worth but I'd think a figure of $600 plus shipping?

I have a PUR (Katadyne) PowerSurvivor80e. The proprietary membranes in the PUR systems are very expensive.
A really good upgrade is to dump the PUR pressure vessel and get an industry standard one that can accept DOW Filmtec membranes. If both your motor and pump are shot, what you are selling is obsolete.
Care to buy a good condition pressure vessel for a PowerSurvivor80e?
I didn’t get any response to my offer here several years ago.

I’d be interested in the pressure vessel and membrane. What is the status of the membrane? Has it been preserved or is it dried out?

The membrane is pickled in the pressure vessel. The pump was rebuilt and has less than 5hrs running since then. Its not worth it to split it up with shipping, etc.

Unfortunately the motor and speed reducer are not working. Or I'd be happy to keep it. I'd guess the motor is going to be too heavy to ship anyway.

I just bought the same watermaker, and apparently the seal kit is no longer available for it. Were you able to buy a seal kit or did you have seals custom made for it?
