Want To Buy: Goiot 308 Manual Windlass

I am looking for a Goiot 308 manual windlass. I am based in NC and am fine paying shipping or picking up locally if you happen to be based here too.

I currently have the same installed on my boat and it just died after 28 years so wanted a simple and easy replacement if at all possible.

Can you post a picture of your old one?

I have two, one I bought new, and not for sale.

The other is used, and looks different from the first.

How did it die?

I can get a picture when I get back down there this weekend. Although I did find one online that looks identical to my setup:



I havent had a chance yet to pull it apart so not sure exactly what is wrong. Everything still spins freely it just wont pull the chain up. Assuming there is a clutch, chain around the cogs, or something inside that broke...

That looks like the one I bought new.

I think they are very clever, with the rope capstan right beside the chain wheel. Fairly smooth transfering at the rope/chain connection.

It would be interesting to find what is wrong...may be something simple.

I don't have one. All I could find online was a really basic looking manual that was in French.

If you had one to share that would be awesome.

I didn't get a manual with my new one (bought it on Ebay), but I found a parts diagram on the internet.

I'll look for it, but be patient. It's in French, too.

Would be excellent if you could find this. I was able to take the windlass back to my shop and pry it apart. Everything seems to be in working order where the chain and cogs are. I suspect there is a problem with the clutch... Now just to get that part apart...

There was actually the original folded up manual inside the main body but it is so deteriorated when I try to unfold it it just peels the paper and the writing is gone
