Dickinson Antarctic Diesel Heater $600

Includes flue pipe as shown and above deck extension (~2ft) and clover top.

Oriental, NC

Detail from Dickinson website:
Antarctic Floor Mounted Diesel Heater
The Antarctic Floor Mounted Heater is ideal for boats 35ft – 40ft. Size of this heater produces greater heat output than the smaller heaters although fuel consumption is the same. This model is round in design and has a large viewing window.

Requires 3” diameter chimney parts.
Minimum 4ft or maximum 8ft of chimney is required, a straight run with no elbows work best.
Chimneys 6ft or longer we highly recommend a barometric damper.
Permanent fresh air vent needed in area of the unit.
Creates a dry heat to dry out moisture inside the vessel.
This model has a larger combustion chamber so more heat is produced than the Alaska and Newport heaters.
In sailboat installations, this unit must face fore or aft, if facing port or starboard is desired, the valve would need to be mounted to the side of the unit so the gravity fed valve won’t starve the burner on heels up to 15 degrees.
12v draft assist fan included (can be converted to 24v and 32v). Used for start up and draft assistance on high fire.
Fan Wiring Diagram

Valve is calibrated for diesel but can be re-calibrated for kerosene or stove oil.
1 turn hot water coil for 5-10 gal or a 2 turn hot water coil for 15-20 gal can be installed for water heating.
Width: 13″
Height: 25″
Depth: 14″
Weight: 27 lbs

Fuel Consumption / 24hr:
1.29 gal LOW
3.20 gal HIGH

Heat Output:
Low: 6500 BTU
High: 16250 BTU

Antarctic Heater Model #: 00-ANT …$1375.18

Re: Dickinson Antarctic Diesel Heater $600

This is about 15yrs old. It was not used for 13 of these. The boat was only used during the summer in the 2yrs it was used.

I am refitting and bought a used smaller heater as this is way too much for a 30ft'r.

This the older version with cast-iron top (same as we have). We like this version as one can use the too to boil water, make coffee etc.

The top opening makes it easier to clean.

Note that parts for this older version ARE available directly from Dickinson.

Yes, definitely overkill (in terms of heating) for a 30 footer.

Re: Dickinson Antarctic Diesel Heater $600

I had a smaller Dickinson on a 30 foot in Alaska for 2 winters. That was also an overkill. Fantastic piece of equipment. I currently have the Antarctic in storage. Getting really in the spring to put it on a 46 footer.
