COMPLETE SSB SET UP

COMPLETE SSB SET UP

ICOM IC-718 – Excellent condition & “Opened Up” (Just checked out & OKed by Dockside Radio)
ICOM AT-140 Tuner – Excellent working condition
KISS SSB Ground plane – Almost new condition
GAM Split Lead Backstay Antenna – Good condition
Cables for connecting the tuner

I put this together to install on my sloop, but long range cruising, regrettably, is no longer an option for me. $1,000 takes it plus shipping. Lower 48 only.

Re: COMPLETE SSB SET UP

Any potential buyer of this set up needs to be aware that this is an amateur (ham) radio, not a marine SSB. It does not have the frequency stability to meet Marine SSB standards. It is not legal to use this on marine SSB frequencies.

Having said that, If I had a nickel for every time a ham radio was used as a marine SSB I would have a lot of nickels.

I am not condemning this use but the buyer should be aware if this.

Careful or the feigned morally superior among us will condemn you for the legitimate warning and assume you are bashing his sale. Someone made that accusation to me about the classified ad for foam dielectric coax where all I did was try to forewarn others about it’s inherent problems.

And I think the objection to ham transceivers on marine frequencies is more about spurious emissions and bandwidth than stability. Neither is actually a problem in my experience and the Icom 718 is a reasonable choice at a reasonable price.
