Re: Chase boat

What kind of speed do you hope to make? What is the plan for night time? Does it matter to you if it's a sailing multihull or a motor multihull?

Re: Chase boat

The speed will be 5-6 knots, The schedule for the night will be the same as the day. 18 hours on the water with a break every 4 hours. 6 hour breaks for sleep and recovery. It does not matter if its a sailing or motor multihull

Re: Chase boat

You can paddle a SUP at 6mph? Maintaining that speed for 18hrs a day for days on end, or is that your very best speed in calm water in short bursts? Not saying you cannot make the trip, but a chase boat committing to support you will need to know approximately how long they will be with you. At 5 mph for 18hrs a day the 1000 mile trip will take 11+ days.
When do you intend to start as weather is obviously going to be a big factor?

Re: Chase boat

Yes, that's my top speed. cruising speed is 5. We know it will take from 10 to 15 days. Been training for two years and scheduled to launch in April, pending chase boat support.

Re: Chase boat

We feel that a multihull has more surface area topside, for equipment and crew to navigate around.
