Beta 38 Diesel Engine $2200

I bought this last year for a sailboat I was in the middle of buying. Unfortunately the seller didn't legally own the boat and the deal fell though. I have since bought another boat and now have this engine.
The prior owner had a water intrusion into the cylinders due to the wet exhaust improperly installed. It was thought at first the injector pump was bad and was replaced with a new one at 800 hours. It also has a new heat exchanger and a rebuildable original one. Comes with a Baldor 100 amp. alternator and Baldor smart regulator.
It is a 2010 Beta V1505 with only 1000 hours reported by the prior owner. He decided to buy a new Yanmar instead of a rebuild. Complete rebuild kits are available through Kumar (one of the better rebuild kits) for $650.
The transmission is a 7 degree down angle.

I believe a new Beta 38 hovers somewhere around $14,000.00 these days and a very long wait time.
Buyer pays shipping. I will build a very good custom pallet to ship it at no cost and will load it onto the carriers truck. I can also work with the buyer to secure economical shipping.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Beta 38 Diesel Engine $2200

I may be interested in the 38. Could you post pictures if the underside of the head showing the valve seats? Valves too would be great. Who disassembled the engine? It looks like some valve guides have some issues. Cylinder condition? Has the oil pan been removed? Is the engine seized? Which heat exchanger is new or have they both been in service? My reasoning for the multiple questions is that saltwater intrusion in a engine can do some serious damage quick and if not addressed quickly can scrap parts to no end. A better picture of transmission would be great too.

Disregard the comment on the valve guides. I was seeing a slight shadow in your pictures. Thanks!

Sale is currently pending. If something changes, I will certainly announce it here.

Still pending. Mostly because of me building a bullet proof crate. I'll know for sure within a week.
