Aries Wind Vane

I am selling an Aires Wind Vane. Originally, the device was installed on an Allied Princess 36. The shafts are intended for deck mounting. The device does not include tubes for a transom mount. The bearing surfaces and bushings were replaced as the device was being refit. It also has two new vanes. I have the installation instructions and parts guide from the manufacturer. It was never installed on my (former) boat (Sabre 42).

The wind vane is located in Guilford, Connecticut. I can arrange shipping (at buyers cost) if necessary. I am asking $1500 USD.

I know I am a new member - but this is NOT a scam as people intimated this morning. I have attached several pictures and can provide more to anyone interested. I have a long positive history on AirBNB as both a host and guest - if you want to search and verify me. Again, I will share any details with an interested buyer to support my legitimacy.

Re: Aries Wind Vane

I have a Monitor on my boat so I’m not in the market for a wind vane right now but..... if I was looking and came upon this on for 1500 plus shipping I would most likely be all over it. These are nice units and perhaps one of the best. I love my wind vane as I sail single handed and honestly I can’t imagine not having one. Perhaps one of the best investments a long distance solo sailor can spend their money on.

Re: Aries Wind Vane

I agree completely. Unfortunately, the previous owner of this never installed the device after a refit. His days of solo sailing are behind him. He gave it to me in hopes of future use. My wife is not looking for distance ocean work - so when we return to sail - electronics will rule the day. Stay well and safe. Patrick

Re: Aries Wind Vane

Just spoke on Whatsapp to Patrick and had a good look at the Aries vane. Rest assured that both the seller and the vane are legit. Will make a decision after making some more measurements on the boat tomorrow.

Re: Aries Wind Vane

Based on the previous person looking at the device - we have come to learn it is 1978-1979 Mark 3 version. This is based on the double rudder swivel - design changed in 1980. We have correspondence and receipts from Aires when the new bushings were purchased as part of the refit. Images can be provided if any buyer is interested. Thanks Greg for your research. Best Patrick

Re: Aries Wind Vane

Just to add to what Patrick has said, I withdrew my interest because of the higher than expected costs of shipping the Aries to Spain and the additional expenses specific to mounting it on my boat. Very nice vane but regrettably out of my price range when all the costs got totaled.

Will have to limit my search to the EU.

Thanks for taking the time to work with me and for your patience, Patrick. It was a pleasure to meet you.
