Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

I have several components of the Alpha 3000. I had this autopilot on my Mercer 44. These are the best of all autopilots for my money. What are you looking for? What I have includes a linear drive , a flux gate compass and a couple of control boxes as well as all the technical data I could find over the years. If interested, I will send you photos of what I have. I am glad I have located a person who appreciates this autopilots.

Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

I am sorry you no longer have the Alpha 3000 as I am looking to sell all my Alpha 3000 parts to an Alpha 3000 owner.

Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

I just bought a sailboat with an older Alpha Marine autopilot (appears to predate the 3000, no model number visible); it appears to have a broken "Wind - Remote - Compass" selection switch.

I have not had the boat out yet to test, but I would prefer to find a compatible upgrade rather than create any more R&R projects if I can help it.

1. Do you still have a control head? Compass, just in case?

2. Is the AP3000 backwards-compatible with my ram? Working under the aft cabin berth is my big worry.

3. Do you have documentation for the wiring installation?

If this will work, we can work out price/shipping details for the west coast.

Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

I have a compass, a ram. a couple control boxes and I believe I have the manuals. The only tricky part of the installation is getting the ram piston rotated to a position where it does not run the rudder up against the stops. The units were initially shipped with a string attached to the ram that indicated it was positioned correctly. When an Alpha Marine Autopilot failed it was usually when the ram ran against the rudder stops and stressed the motor so it burned out. When correctly installed the motor stops before the rudder hits its stops. Of all autopilots I have seen, the Alpha Marine pilots were (are) the best.

I will see what I actually have and get back to you with a price including shipping. Probably $100 for everything plus about $50 shipping to the West Coast. I know I paid much more for all I have but I am now a 76 year-old and downsizing is my priority!

Please email me at floydhollister (at) gmail.com so we can communicate more easily.

Floyd

Good morning!

Do you still have any alpha 3000 equipment by any chance?!

Thank you!

Re: Alpha 3000 autopilot

I don't know how to remove my previous post, but I purchased an almost complete unit from one of the posters, so I am no longer seeking parts.

I may post some leftover parts for sale after I have sea-trialed the work.
