8 Used CALB 180AH LiFePO4 Batteries

I have eight (8) cells for sale. These are CA180 FI CALB cells with sequential serial numbers. They were used in a sailboat with 4S2P configuration (360AH). They are 3 years old, used less than 6 months, and have been in storage (unwired) since Oct 2015. The individual cells have been resting at 3.32V since then.

In September 2015 the 4S2P pack was accidentally discharged below 10V (my bad ). The pack was immediately disassembled and the individual cells were slowly recharged to 3.4V each. The 8 cells were then wired in parallel and allowed to rest for one week before being placed back in 4S2P pack configuration. Fully-charged resting voltage for the pack was 13.3V after several subsequent discharge/charge test cycles. There was/is no cell imbalance. However, fully-charged resting pack voltage prior to being over-discharged had been 13.4V thus indicating some loss of storage capacity. The cell cases are not swollen or otherwise damaged. I have no reason to believe they are not serviceable, albeit at a slightly lower total capacity. Note that CALB cells are factory rated at 10% under full capacity, meaning a 180AH cell is actually 200AH.

These cells will only be sold as a set. Please do not ask for individual cell sales. I'm asking $900 for the set, and will guarantee them for 30 days as long as they are properly installed and monitored. That should provide adequate time to test them. I am also willing to share significant practical LiFePO4 installation and use experience with the buyer. I'm a big fan.

To avoid shipping, I would prefer to deal with someone locally in SW FL.

If shipping is requested, buyer pays. Hazmat shipping charges apply. It will likely be expensive (depending on distance). I paid $220 from Utah.

Re: 8 Used CALB 180AH LiFePO4 Batteries

If someone would like to have these cells FREE of charge, please let me know. They have been sitting boxed in our house for more than a year, and continue to hold charge at 3.2 volts per cell.

We are selling our home. I'm going to take them to the hazardous waste dump if they aren't gone by the end of February 2018.

Our house is located in Port Charlotte, FL. I will not ship these batteries, so please don't ask.

Thanks for looking.

These are eight CALB 180Ah cells which which are designed to provide 360Ah+ of 12V storage capacity. You can find specs and dimensions at electriccarparts.com.

Basically, these 8 cells take up about the same amount of physical space as 180Ah (total) of AGM batteries... plus you save significant weight.

It's important to understand how these are very different from lead acid batteries...in installation, operation and maintenance.

I guess third in line... we'd come pick them up in a week or two once we get to Florida from the Bahamas.

No commitments, yet. First person who arranges to take them can have them. Please be sure you know how they differ from lead-acid batteries.

Currently expecting to meet Awilson275 Sunday afternoon. I'll re-post the give-away here if it doesn't work out for some reason. Thanks to everyone who responded.

Re: 8 Used CALB 180AH LiFePO4 Batteries

We can wait.
Don't go over 13.8 volts to charge.
Don't ever go below 2.5 volts per cell.
No multi stage charger regulator is necessary.
Make sure your cells are contained on the sides.
Have GOOD connections.
Make sure your alternator is up to snuff.
Try to rid your mind of "Gotta keep 'em fully charged!"
They actually prefer NOT being full.
See compass marine's site. http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/boat_projects

That covers most of it.
