For Sale: 2003 Volvo Penta MD2040D 40hp deisel, and MS25S Saildrive

I repowered our 2003 Catana 431 in the late spring of 2021. We removed the original Volvo Penta 2040D BT 3 cylinder 39hp engines and MS25S 2.47:1 saildrives, and replaced the entire system with new VP D2-50 and 130 saildrives. The original engines have about 3600 hours, although this is an estimate as the tach displays gave up about 2 years ago. One engine and saildrive is already sold, but I still have one saildrive and 1 engine left for sale. The engines were running well at the time of the re-power, with no exhaust smoke, good compression and the saildrives were in service on the vessel. I flushed the saildrive gearboxes and filled them with new oil after removal.
The engine has a start panel, new coolant water pump, new water pump">raw water pump, 1 new 60A alternator and new stainless exhaust elbow.

I'm storing both components in Punta Gorda, FL, USA inside in an air conditioned space. If you're interested, I'll deliver them to a shipping company, or you can pick up directly from me. Of course, shipping will be at the buyer's expense.

Online pricing for these components is all over the map. There are only a few MD2040D engines online, and they appear to average out around $3200 USD. The saildrives also vary dramatically in price, with 1 on ebay right now for $4999 USD, and another for $3999 USD.

I will sell the engine for $3000, and the saildrive for $2500. This will undoubtedly be the lowest price you'll find by quite a margin based on my internet search today. If you find another engine or saildrive in similar condition for less money, let me know and we can negotiate. I'm not looking to get rich here, just to receive an adequate price for the components, and to facilitate a quick sale.
