I had intended to cast off today for a Christmas cruise, but I think I'll wait a few more days.Click image for larger version

Re: Winter Sailstice

Drained the 20 gallon forward water tank on my boat and started removing the gallon water bottles before the temperature hits 11 degrees F on Friday Morning.

Otherwise it was a beautiful Sunny day with high's in the low 40's.

Even Miami is going to have temps in the 40's on Friday it appears.

Pensacola, FL 19 degrees and New Orleans in the 20's.

Re: Winter Sailstice

Shoveling snow and trying to stay warm.
Looking out my three boats covered with snow.

Winter arrived very early this year, first snow was on the night of November 1st and there has been added snow since then. Expecting -40 F wind chills tonight here on the Flathead Lake in northwest Montana, and more like -50 at my second residence in south west Montana. Quite sure the lake will be entirely frozen by Thursday evening, time for iceboating.

So ready for Spring to arrive in May.

Re: Winter Sailstice

We're into our winter house-sit season, except this one is a farm-sit in northern BC. As luck would have it, we're breaking records for low temperatures right now (-40ºC, and even lower). All part of the fun...

Re: Winter Sailstice

Well, cold temperatures keep the snow in good condition, which only matters to skiers.

While there’s a hefty price for living in SoCal, days like today ease the pain.

I appreciate the punny title, and that someone else is marking the day.

Woke up to a brisk -24 (celcius) and a beautiful sliver of moon against a lightening eastern sky.

A great day to welcome in winter!

Re: Winter Sailstice

Sailed Saturday here on western Long Island sound, was 39 F with wind at 16 g 20.
Had to winterize motor today as temp going down to about 15 F over Christmas
but we will back out sailing next week when it warms up into the 30's again.
