The Nasdaq lost 1.6% and only narrowly avoided closing in its first bear market since the Great Recession. The S&P 500 declined 1.6%. And US oil prices are in free fall, ending below $46 a barrel for the first time since August 2017."
Looks like a solid investment mom! Just a hint for the oil industry to make any money it needs to be at or above $50 a barrel. $46 isn't cutting it!

Well I guess we can't make more money with our money so we might as well go buy another boat. That's the way I see it.

In the past the payment models were more controlled, more defined. An author would get a contract to write a book (or to make it personal, a magazine article). Publisher or producer would pay the creator, and then make profit selling this creation to consumers.
Today the market has so devalued creation that middle-men can’t/won’t pay creators for their work. So creators have found ways to bypass these folk and go directly to ‘consumers of content.’ They offer their wares, and people can choose to pay, or not.
This is not begging. This is not charity work. In fact, those who are successful in this business are people who are highly skilled and talented. It takes a tremendous amount of effort and resources to produce quality content. It’s no different than those who sell their skills and products as business owners, nurses or charter captains.
These folks are producing a product that some people are willing to pay for. The payment mechanisms have changed, but the basic formula remains the same. They are selling product for money.

Some people lack the intelligence to understand that the world is a changing place, and still live in the past.

lol we have the same tastes.
I know the distant shores couple. we've enjoyed some nice boat talk for quite some hours on occasion. They are indeed the grandparents of the all thing.

Too funny! Check out Sailing Magic Carpet. These kids took a destroyed monohull and brought it back to life. The thing was dropped 20 feet to the cement. They did 90% of the work themselves while working full time. They just started making videos but are naturals.

Re: Why do people pay for somebody else's fun?
As a retired Gen-Xer, I wish I had the opportunity to have YT and blogs when I was young so I could make money making movies (doing fun stuff) instead of putting my nose to the grind stone for 30 years. When I think about it, I think those young people in the videos are utilizing a medium of opportunity very wisely.
