I've got my Kindle, cribbage and backgammon board. Why take all that other crap with you especially with the deplorable state of Hollywood fare.

Re: what kind of entertainment do you have?

Whatever is outside the cabin is entertaining. Never considered having any of those things on a yacht, except my guitar, but never an electric one, and I am an ex muso.

Coops.

Yes, Coops, me too. Between the girl and the sea I have no need for anything but more sleep. Got a basic stereo with booming Bose speakers, and a laptop for movies. Some decks of cards too.

Re: What kind of entertainment do you have?

Mostly kindle, guitar, cooking or just looking But there's a LED monitor onboard and a low power raspberry pi set up as a media server , load of wiring to do yet.
Turn A Raspberry Pi Into An XBMC Media Centre In Under 30 Minutes | Lifehacker Australia

so the option of watching the some movies is there as well. Nice to have the choice

Re: What kind of entertainment do you have?

Led tv and terrabyte drive for movies (only used in the winter), board games, cards, books, laptop, car stereo system and each other. That's about all we need to keep us occupied once the sun goes down!

Where do you get the movies from?

I've checked iTunes and found the price outrageous, like $30 for Bladerunner.

I refuse to steal them, but surely there's a cheaper alternative.

+2

A good reason to sail is to get away from all of that.

We do like to watch movies sometimes after dinner at anchor -- for that an el-cheapo Tesco 99 pound special 22" TV can be brought out of a locker and set up on the salon table, and hooked up to a laptop or a zone-free micro DVD player we have.

Basic car stereo is fine for music.

Great bulk of the entertainment on board our boat comes from sailing, the sea, swimming, cooking, good conversation, drinking, going ashore to explore, poring over charts and pilot books to plan the next adventure.

And of course boat repairs
