In science, if you know what you are doing, you should not be doing it.
In engineering, if you do not know what you are doing, you should not be doing it.
Of course, you seldom, if ever, see either pure state.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

From Terry Pratchett:

If you light a fire for a man he’ll be warm for a day.
If you set him on fire he’ll be warm for the rest of his life!

Re: What is Your Favorite Quote?

There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

from my flying days:

airspeed, altitude, brains- have to maintain 2 out of 3 at all times,

the only time you have too much fuel is if you are on fire

nothing is more useless than runway behind you

there are old pilots and bold pilots but there are no old bold pilots

The wireless telegraph is not difficult to understand.
The ordinary telegraph is like a very long cat. You pull the tail in New York, and it meows in Los Angeles.
The wireless is the same, only without the cat. ~ Albert Einstein
