Just found the mechic.. took a coupla hours but he's milled a beautiful bit of stuff and will fit it tomorrow after knocking up some gaskets etc.. the F thermostat was buggered as well..

The half moon is where the pump fits in..

Well the first problem is the engine is green. You gotta get that slime off of it.

interesting marinization!

make sure the pump shaft is properly in alignment!
mis- alignment could have been the cause of the breakage

also check for play on the pump bearings

looks like a great engine though

Could also be old age.. 1981 when it was installed..
Don't appear to be any bearings.. its 4 teeth on a cog that mates with another cog which spins the impellor.. just a rubber grommet between the two..
But hell.. what do I know.. I just sail the bugga.. don't need to know what makes it tick..
Funny enuf.. when I did the owner assist for the PO from Nice to Tunisia I ended up having to sail her into Bizerte fish harbour and dock under sail as well.. so kinda know how she handles..

Okay... its fixed..
The pics are a long shot of the engine back togetger.. then one looking down at the new linkage for the impellor and
one of the two bits that he machined replacements for.. total cost 200 euros..
