Loss of s/v Bounty

As the US Coast Guard hearings proceed I am increasingly appalled. From the Captain's outrageous declarations in London last year to the damning testimony that keeps getting worse by the day, dereliction of duty and irresponsible behavior emerge as cause of loss of life and vessel. A sad day with I fear more to come.

Re: Loss of s/v Bounty

It seems crazy at the time I heard the ship going to sea in a Hurricane, I was thinking to myself no way in hell would I do that, I thought maybe the Capt was losing his mind or something- now to hear about how bad shape the ship was in makes you wonder was there other motives behind taking her to sea at this time?

Re: Loss of s/v Bounty

Sometime last summer he was in the UK and was, I don't want to say "bragging" about his seamanship, claiming he would always try to stay within the eye of a hurricane, I did not hear of anyone asking how he proposed to get there in the first place - that already shocked me, then through the hearings in have been following through gCaptain.com his decision to set sail away from coastal protection - with the knowledge not that he knew the vessel was not structurally safe to confront heavy seas... I have lived two, 1996 and 2007, sea room is one thing, this is another.
