Local dining destinations in the BVIs

Hi -

We're going cruising in the BVIs in March, and I'd like to gather the wisdom of those who are BVI veterans on dining opportunities not to be missed in the BVIs. What I'm interested in are the small, local, off the beaten track places that serve good food. The rest doesn't matter so much - I'm not looking for a 5 star resort experience.

What are the places that you look forward to visiting? West Indian food, local fish, anything that is unique to the place...

The Dove in Road Town is exceptional. Last Resort in Trellis Bay on its own little island. Any place on Anegada. Cooper Island - its the only one on the island of 18 people. Wiily T's in Norman Bight if you can get there when they have a fresh catch - its really a party place but they cook a mean wahoo. All the little beach bars that are must see but not necessarily off the beaten path.

The BVIs are pretty touristy. I doubt theres many peopple working in any industry which is not directly related with tourism.

Therefore the small, out of the way places still make much/most of their money from tourists.

and some local places you have a look and would prefer to eat in the touristy place!

the best advice it to explore! Do a Captain Cook. Every anchorage has something so you will be fine. and if you strike out jump into your provisions


The photo attached is at Cane Garden Bay. Its lovely but the Cruise Ships bus their passengers their for lunch so the prices are outrageous!
But we did find one on the sand with good prices.

You'll be surprised how good the food is in the "touristy" places. In November, I had really good lobster on the Willy T and great tuna with risotto at the Soggy Dollar. I had a steak at Foxy's but really can't offer up an opinion as I had too much fire water rum before the meal.
