" if he could somehow ban the playing of Margaritaville in a public place forever!"

For those who have satellite radio - I have Sirius XM - there is a Margaritaville Channel where can get Jimmy 24/7. Channel 24. Don't leave shore without it.

Had a similar experience near Sarasota in the late 80's I think. Some local fish camp type place. Walked in and Greg Allman was jamming with some guys in the back room. So cool.

Met Jimmy twice. Once we crossed paths in the airport in Stella Maris. I had just landed in a thunderstorm after my first single engine over water flight, 4.5 hours out from Florida following an NDB of all things. Jimmy was leaving in his TBM700. I got a hand labeled cassette tape. He was there finishing A Pirate Looks at 50.

Also met him at an FBO at "sunken" Lunken Airport in Cincinnati where he'd flown in for a show at Riverbend. Hung out for a few minutes. Cool guy, great planes.

If you like Jimmy, you might like Stick Figure.

Re: Jimmy Buffet (For the record I love the guy)

While Margaritaville isn't my favorite, I don't mind hearing it occasionally, and it's a lot better than some of the thumping nonsense some people play.

I'm more along the lines of someone who might show up with a beer or two later on.

I'm a fan, so long as he doesn't do a rap song.

Re: Jimmy Buffet (For the record I love the guy)

He was a regular customer at my West Palm Beach store. Unfortunately I never met him.
A couple of years ago the Eagles played here in Miami. My wife is a big Eagles fan so we went. Jimmy was the opening act! He was great! Obviously enjoyed being on stage. We were a little disappointed in the Eagles. I think they were tired of performing.

Oh My. Please tell me that being a cruiser is more about the wind in the sails and peace and quiet For me, I am trying to escape the noise of what some call music.

Sure, but you're not likely finding that combination of features in a boatyard, so you may have to settle for music that's not overly offensive.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I work in the entertainment industry and GTR is the abbreviation for Guitar in my world. So I was referring to Guitar Center which is one of those places us pros avoid like the plague. Stairway to Heaven is banned at any store that sells guitars. Want a laugh Google Stairway to Heaven at NAMM.

I have one of those receivers with a 3.5mm jack that I get Margaritaville Radio on. The receiver is buried at the bottom of my console under a pile of junk. No other stations gets played on it, so I don't need access to the buttons on it!

When we cruise, we yank it out of my truck and plug it into the boat's stereo system. This receiver is ten years old, but it made the last two cruises!

Was a fan from his early career. I had the Margaritaville Channel on Sirius but less would be more. About every third song was Jimmy, it got to the point I had to change the song Margaritaville when it came on. On Willy Nelson’s channel it seems as though you only hear one of his songs every hour or even less. I heard the same Jimmy song once within an hour. But, Jimmy has to buy a lot of gas for all those beautiful airplanes he owns.
