Fishing, diving, Trolling, in the med
Hows the spear fishing, diving, and trolling, in the med. People keep telling me not so good but I've seen Greek, Spanish and Italian fish markets! We are going to be all over and wondering how often I can bring in a catch of crayfish or a tuna? Any advise would be great thanks!

I caught a tuna the first day off Italy, not as many fish sighted here in Croatia. Scuba is different over here, coral and creatures are much smaller, but had one of my best dive days ever off Menorca. But still... diving is much different here than Cozumel, Honduras or Grand Turk.

In august The water was 66 ( and that's typically the warmest month for sea temp) which was cold for us, and hardly any locals were swimming. I think it does fluctuate depending on the weather. Still very beautiful and would go back in a heartbeat.

Hi, don't believe what you see in those fish markets, they are all fake, probably imported from China.
Trolling, we spent 3 summers sailing from Turkey, exiting the Med late last summer.
In that time we caught around 6 tuna, 3 small just over plate size and 3 between 60 and 80 cm. it was a long wait between catches which led me to believe that the last one we caught was the sole remaining survivor of its species and jumped on the hook in desperation to escape the loneliness .
Diving, snorkelling off Sipan( an Island in the Adriatic) with an Italian guy visiting us, called us all over to see what he had found. We excitedly swam over to dive on beautiful small red starfish. Quite amazing, don't know what it ate or how it survived? Yup, but you will find interesting things growing on your hull,Mao don't throw away your mask and snorkel.
Three summers , warm buoyant water, beautiful crystal clear bays. A ton of historical walks, history, concentrate on that..Magic.

Re: Fishing, diving, Trolling, in the med
Just got back from a two week sail on the Turquoise coast of Turkey
caught 6 good size Bonito in 20 minutes and had them for lunch .... Yummy!
Also had all my line stripped of one of my reels .... The learning was dont put a spinner out on reasonably light tackle with the Asymetric spinnaker up !!!
So then we only trolled on the mornings while motoring waiting for the wind.
As far diving (snorkelling not scuba) the sea life is OK ..... its not like finding nemo (which is it in Indonesia!) but still fun and saw plently of turtles
So awesome history and ruins to visit (and I mean lots) and some even under water!
But the best was paragliding off Olu Deniz going up to 2100 meters and spending over 35 minutes in the air with one of the best views in the world !!
and for 65 US dollars

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat & drink beer all day.
