How old are you? I go to my boat to get away from the noise that is around me and sometimes in my own head. The boat, the water, the fish. The birds, all the sounds of all the things I want to hear. The racket we humans invent, you want to drowned out the natural sounds? May as well stay in a basement locked away with the noise. Seems to me.

I have a set of speakers in my boat and thank goodness they are not hooked to anything.

If you're going to emulate a frenetic land based multimedia lifestyle on your boat, why have a boat? Sounds like a dock queen spec... I'm not saying I take a spartan approach, but I use my sailing to get closer to a natural environment. Horses for courses I guess.

I do have a portion of that stuff and more in my 70" toater home. On land it seems somehow required. Once at the csmpsite, what else is there to do? Eat, drink and watch a movie you already seen three times.

Western Digital TV or Apple TV

+ a couple of Terrabytes is way better than a dvd player.

The new portable projectors are also very cool.

Onboard:

- laptops for movies, work, and futzing around on the Internet when available.
- our Kindles for reading. We do a lot of reading.
- board games / dominoes / memory / stuff like that.
- sounds corny but I practice knots and general cordage stuff.

We watch old movies once in a while, but mostly I fix things and do maintaince about the boat ! Connie loves to bake and I like to eat the stuff she bakes ! And we have a over 20 yr Cribbage game going on at least 3 times aweek ! We fish and of course NOW the Internet! Boy what a time waster ! LOL I guess we are sorta happy in one anothers company !

It has its own battery, so you can charge it whenever you have juice and it wouldn't be a direct drain.

But you're correct, my Laptop, WDTV, 2 hard drives, Apple Extreme and a wifi bridge use 8 amps. That's a lot of juice for the 10 or 12 hours I use em

Don't bother with the ammeter. Just cry about the per hour cost when you see how much the replacement bulbs are. My last projector I tossed after two replacement bulbs, because it got to the point that a new HD projector (which is nearing the end of it's third bulb) cost as much as 2 new bulbs. I figure that it costs me about $0.25 an hour to operate. It's so worth it though, since we don't have to pay for babysitting to watch a movie...

I'm with you on the games thing. We cancelled our TV service a couple of years ago. We have some great times playing, and we have an amazing game shop run by a lady who has forgotten more about the topic than I'll ever know. If you haven't checked out "Ticket to Ride" or "Carcassonne" those are two of our favorites right now. BTW, our kid is a bit older, he's 8, but since he's grown up playing games he's pretty good at them. We got a lot of mileage from "Pirate-opoly" when he was much younger.

We have a CD-player, cards, dominos, chess (if we get really bored there's always intimate horizontal games between the sheets )

Otherwise we just enjoy the natural sounds around us

The thing is, obviously, he wants to get away from it all, and take it with him. The OP that is not Atoll. Why two Poles Atoll? What can they do that two Aussies,Poms,(I am one living in Aus), Russians or Americans can't.
