If you find the Caribbean 1500 is too intense or expensive but you still want to get there then check out the Dawgs as an alternative.

2018 SALTY DAWG ANNAPOLIS RENDEZVOUS
Salty Dawgs … and all interested in water sailing">blue water sailing - are invited to join us for happy hour, a pulled pork barbecue, a special speaker, and a great gathering of sailors in Annapolis October 4th.

The Salty Dawg Annapolis Rendezvous is an annual fun fest for sailors. Salty Dawgs get together to renew friendships. Others attend to find out what the fun is all about.Our special speaker this year is Charles Springett. Charles and his wife Susan have recently completed a three Year Odyssey from Virginia to Europe and back with stops in Greenland and Morocco and everywhere in between. Come enjoy the evening and revel in great sea stories!

Unfortunately my two crew just bailed on me so now I gotta find replacements. :/

The Salty Dawg Fall Rally to the Caribbean is shaping up to be another world class event with about 75 boats participating. Registration closes Friday, October 12. Departure from Hampton VA is scheduled for Nov. 3, weather permitting. The fleet will spread out at sea to reach one of three planned destinations: Antigua, the BVI, or the Bahamas. “This year’s event features a diverse fleet of passage-makers....it’s guaranteed to be a fun adventure for all,” according to Director of Rally Management Rick Palm. “If you are ready for a passage to paradise, sign up now....before registration closes on October 12.”

Whichever destination you choose, you will be among like-minded blue water sailing enthusiasts ... and new friends and old. About 43% of the fleet is headed to the BVI; 47% to Antigua; and 10% to The Bahamas.

• 72% monohull, 28% multihull
• 6 boats with kids
• 7 boats with pets
• 10 foreign flagged vessels (Australia, Sweden, Canada, UK, Switzerland)
• Hailing ports of 18 different US states

That Figaro 3 belongs to a good friend of mine who is tired of managing a crew of 10 on a 40’ sport boat. It’s rigged for single handing and is insanely cool. The foils don’t lift the boat, just provide stability in place of ballast. He calls it training wheels for the Vendee Globe lol
