Amalfi Coast - by sea or land?

We had no trouble finding good anchorages where ever we wished to stay including Capri. Only stayed in a marina for two days while visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum which cost only $120 per day high season just 1 mile from the entrance to Pompeii in a first class marina with access to the yacht club pool. Driving was fun in Naples, no issues, but we live in Massachusetts.

Have not done Amalfi by sea, but did drive from Rome to Naples and then to Amalfi. Completely spectacular.
Did take a boat to Capri. Beautiful but yes too pricey and crowded. Positano is awesome.
The Amalfi harbor has been photographed a zillion times and moorings are available. Once in The town of Amalfi, the Piazza of St. Andrew is awesome.
Excellent food, shopping and Limoncello.
Be sure to take the short bus trip, or 15 minute walk up towards the hotels and find La Preferita Ristorante. Best food you’ll find!
