I think that's exactly the reason I'm looking forward to it! There are far too many films which are written assuming that the audience has ADHD... I watched Robert Redford being interviewed about the film, and he said that for him it was about independence, and being separated from the lightning-paced hyper connected technological world we're supposed to be in. Funnily enough, those are the reasons I sail. I'm rather looking forward to a film about singlehanded sailing, it's not as if our sport gets much media attention.

I have no problem with Robert Redford playing an expert seaman, as long as BoatMan gets to play Robert Redford in the new movie THE WAY WE WAS: THE ROBERT REDFORD STORY!!!

All Is Lost Official Trailer #1 (2013) - Robert Redford Movie HD - YouTube

Rumor has it they may change the title to "Boatman 61 at Work".

This new trailer looks like the show might be a little bit more like the Steve Callahan story than about cruising solo. Can't wait to watch it either way.

Re: ALL IS LOST: The Movie

This story better start off with "Twenty five years ago" or I'm gonna scream "Flip the switch on your EPIRB man". I also bet a SSB or HF radio would have been better than the VHF. Plus it's an awfully empty life raft for someone who seemed to have a lot of time before his ship went down. But it is for the Hollywood drama effect and I'll see it too. Gonna be interesting to see who fills up the seats in the movie house, probably a bunch of cranky old salts like me.

You wicked man!

Is this a true story -- I mean, I know it's a movie, and some things will be fictionalized, but is it based on a true story?

And why would anyone as good looking as Robert Redford be sailing alone?
