pirate A Little Night Movie(s)

Attention consumerism-driven over-acheivers aka television owners: Tonight at 2000 hours est on TMC one can see the benchmark Mutiny on the Bounty with Charles Laughton, followed by (women, cover yer children's eyes) Captain Blood with Erroll Flynn.

pirate Re: A Little Night Movie(s)

If I did happen to acquire a small TV, and found myself in a dockside location with cable, I would just be watching classic movies and higher class stuff on PBS, not vulgar sports and star-studded award presentations observed by the great unwashed in these United States..

All my info is humbly offered as a public service.

Re: A Little Night Movie(s)

Cable and sat teevee not needed to watch some good teevee.
Digital broadcasting is free, offers tons of programming (including PBS), and many are in high def.

There is an all classic movie channel, GetTV, that recently began broadcasting over the air (OTA/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_television) on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_subchannel for free reception in most US markets.
You only need a teevee that receives digital signals (about the only kind left) and an antenna, or an older analog teevee with a digital converter box.

No fees whatsoever (except for watching commercials). And many channels are HD too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GetTV ( and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Me-TV , which airs classic series and movies, plus others ) is all old movies, all the time (except three hours on Friday morning for E/I). GetTV is carried as a subchannel of the Spanish language network Univision in many places, but is broadcast in English.
