Transient in the keys

I'm taking a sailboat (with a very tall mast 70'), from Miami to Destin

What are some good stopping places in the Keys. I'm looking for something budget, and may anchor if possible.

If seen a couple of marinas advertised, it seems $4 a ft is the going rate.

Re: Transient in the keys

I'm thinking on night east side of Key Largo, or vicinity, then a night Key West then shortcut to Naples. I can take it from there as i'm somewhat familiar from smaller (tiny) sailboat sailing southwest coast.

New rigging later. I'm once again heading downcoast to the Keys from Ft Lauderdale.

Has anyone on this board made that trip in a sailboat?

What's the draft? That will be as much of a restriction as mast height on the west side of FL.

In the keys with a 70ft stick the only bridge you can get under is snake creek bascule bridge. I'm pretty sure the bridge at Gilbert's Sw end of Biscayne bay/ card sound is 65 ft. From snake creek the anchorage South of snake creek is decent, there's a great bar and grill with a dinghy dock there,, named OV, ocean view, even has a pool.
From there you'll meander South until the yacht channel 5 junction and then can head towards Naples, we prefer to stay within the park boundaries and work our way towards little shark river. There are no crab traps if you stay just inside the marker lines. Outside or West of the boundary markers there are literally thousands of traps and it is a nightmare. Little shark is a cool spot to explore and a easy trip from the keys.
