There are four good yards in New Orleans I know of, and a lot of quality marinas on the coast.

Too bad, my experience there was good, but that was some time ago.

Re: Mississippi Gulf Coast Marinas
There used to be a little marina up the Jordan River in Bay St. Louis which I liked, I heard the area was essentially annihilated by a hurricane (Katrina?). Couple of really good restaurants there too.
Any one know the status of this area these days?

I'm guessing that restaurant was called Jordan River Steamer?? It's now run by the daughter. And it is AMAZING!! The area was a near total loss after Katrina, but the last 2 years have been very good and new stuff is popping up everywhere. Probably not quite to pre-storm levels, but in a few years, I believe it will be better than it could have been.

Oh yeah man! Would love to eat there again! GF and I are talking about doing a road trip between Austin and Atlanta...lots of great food and music along this route...and will definitely have to add Jordan River Steamers to the list of stops! Glad to hear they are still there.
Good that the area is recovering....maybe a good place to go real estate shopping!

I believe Long Beach Harbor has liveaboards and allows it, however right now they are cleaning up after Isaac--no power, no water, etc., just slips. Keep a watch to see when they are back to full services if needed.
