Active Captain gives marina locations and user reviews. Whittaker Marina in Oriental would be my choice although they don't allow liveaboards.

Also go to towndock.com the un-official Oriental web site. The classified section has some listings for private slips.

There are lots of Marinas & space available in New Bern. The water is "ugly brown", but being mostly fresh, the growth is low. There is protected sailing in the Neuse River, and Pamlico Sound is just 3 hours sail away. Rates are good, and it is a nice town. M.

Just cruised thru NC.
Some recommendations ...

1) Dowry Creek Marina in Belhaven. Just spent the winter there. Nice.
2) Keep Washington, NC on your list. Nice Town.
3) Southport, NC, on Cape Fear river. Awesome town. Great people.

Good luck.

In Wilmington there are several on the Cape Fear.

The City has slips available in the Historic downtown area but only for transients. A private dock next to beside the City's slips have 4 or 5 spaces available for short or long term.

Check with Jubilee, docked in front of Henrietta ( large riveboat ) for information about the private dock I mentioned above.
