Whoa, "no hurricanes"?

Opal, Ivan and Dennis changed the coastline forever. I saw yachts sitting in the middle of Hwy 98 in Ft Walton and that's 1 hour from P-City.

The NW FL coast is a beautiful, stormy place.

Wrong Panama.

Shelter Bay is in Panama the country, not Panama City the town in Florida.

Since the thread title was FL, I assumed it to be NW FL. Bad me.

I see you are a victim of the dreaded THREAD DRIFT. Yes it started with Florida but as you see, marinas further afield have appeared in the discussion.

I'm looking in both Ft Lauderdale and St Pete as a possibility.

For example, I was looking and calling around Ft Lauderdale and I was floored by the costs (average looking marinas wanting anywhere from $1k to $2.5k for a 45' monohull!!).
I then called up a respected yacht broker in the heart of Ft Lauderdale and he told me that Ft Lauderdale is one of the less expensive areas in FL. He said I should easily find $10/ft/mo pricing for a wet-slip (not a yacht club, but an adequate slip). He also said "watch out...there are pirates taking your money everywhere!".

Is anyone else running into high quoted prices and then having trouble finding marinas which are competitively priced? Any help you can provide? Are there any "marina brokers" who take a fee to find and negotiate a slip rate?

I'm just frustrated...
The way to find a reasonable slip in Ft Lauderdale is to look in the back waterways.... from a dingy... Try the Los Olas area.

Are you kidding me? $0.40/ft/day is $550-560 per month. That is more than I pay in Florida for long term liveaboard.

That is $18 / day for a 40 ft. $540 a month. Saw similar rates in BVI and USVI.

Pricy storage. $100 / month flat fee seems reasonable.

Just saying

Not to mention half a world away in the middle of a Central American jungle. What a bargain!
