Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

Expensive, oriented to sportfishers and local boats.

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

We are anchored 400 yds away from it.

Safe but expensive and while they have new open docks last week they refused to give a berth to a $2,000,000 sailboat saying that they were full.

When I asked personally they had 20 empty berths and refused to give me one even though I explained it might be a semi-emergency because my wife was sick in the US.

They did take a cat into the yard but damaged it badly lifting it and may just not want anything to do with sailboats!

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

Thanks folks.

We in the process of moving a 48 foot cat to Victoria, waiting for the shipping company to give us a rendezvous time, probably in Golfito. I was thinking that we could move it through the canal, wait at Flamenco then take 2-3 days to get to Golfito.

Maybe not.

Why not wait in Golfito. Good moorings available. Interesting islands in W Panama to stop at on the way up.

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

Good advise.

Now how do I get home (Calgary) from Golfito? Do I really need to get to San Jose? How?

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

You'll be able setup airport transport from Golfito without much issue.
If you have time, you can setup a trip over to a lodge on the Oso peninsular from Land and Sea - who has the moorings. Pretty reasonable price and worth the visit.

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

After some checking I should be able to catch a very early flight from Golfito to San Jose and get home that same day.

Re: Flamenco Island Marina, Panama

With the caveat that it is Central America and all schedules are just loose suggestions
