DIY boatyard in central Florida Atlantic coast

Hello all. I think this is the right place to ask this. I’m looking for a boatyard where I can have my sailboat delivered and then I can work on the boat doing some general maintenance before launching her. I have been in contact with a few marinas and have not had much luck. My best option was Westland marina in Titusville which was my destination until I got a delivery date of my boat at the end of this month and the marina staff informed me that they are all booked up for a few months.

Where can I bring my boat? I will be driving to work on it so I’m looking at a boatyard somewhere between Jacksonville and Titusville. I am located inland of New Smyrna Beach.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Re: DIY boatyard in central Florida Atlantic coast

I hear Green Cove Springs is one place, Hawkmouth - if you ignore all the people living aboard their derelict boats - but apparently they do allow DIY: https://www.google.com/search?q=gree...obile&ie=UTF-8.

Now that I see you have a wife and daughter, Green Cove would DEFinitely be out. Look for some advice hopefully to come from KelseyB. She was just down that way and may have better tips for you. Also DenverON. He lives aboard in that area and may be able to provide accurate local info.

Welcome aboard and good luck with your boatwork,

St Marys Boat Services in St Marys, GA has a DIY boatyard. Check with Terri though, I am not sure there are any spaces available at the moment. Our boat is on the hard there currently.

Too bad about Westland - great yard, did my last 'on the hard' maintenance period there last winter. While a bit pricey (if you have outside contractors coming to work on your boat - they'd pay the marina a $30/day fee), and just a bit south is Harbortown Marina - on the Canaveral Barge Canal. Good size work area, not very full right now.
