Affordable in Miami Beach?

Anyone know of an affordable marina in Miami Beach for a week?

Miami Beach Marina is $3 a ft and The City Bayside Marina is $2.75 + tx and no weekly discounts at either.

I just hating putting a grand down for a week to tie up to a dock.

None that I know of. Like asking for a cheap hotel in Manhattan.

Anchor out... Prices in Miami are more ridiculous than anywhere else in the entire nation.

Looks like a popular anchorage (judging by google maps) at Jungle Island, just North of the Macarthur Causeway.

Dinner Key anchorage, city run with easy connections to Miami Beach via public trans.
Lots to see in Coconut Grove also.

Southern Ca. being a close second.

I'm pretty sure most parts of New England would give CA a run for the money.

Re: Affordable in Miami Beach?

There is a boat ramp and dock just south of Sunset Harbor Marine. If you anchor near there, you can dinghy in and you're pretty close to bike rentals, taxis and bus lines to get around. You're also within walking distance of a big Publix grocery store. If you need any marine supplies, my company will deliver to the dinghy dock. If you feel like taking a dinghy ride up the Miami River, stop at my store and say hello.
What are you looking for in Miami Beach? Night life? Beaches? Shopping?

Re: Affordable in Miami Beach?

Thanks for the replies. I saw the boats anchored just south of Sunset Harbor Yacht club as I was coming into it. I will stay here for a couple of days and then maybe go hang on the hook.

There are a few things I will be picking up around the end of the week. Where is your store HopCar?

Re: Affordable in Miami Beach?

Mikepmtl, We're at 3300 NW 21 Street in Miami. That's just east of the airport. You can get to us by dinghy by coming up the Miami River to the Tamiami Canal. It's the first left after the 27th Avenue Bridge. Go under the little swing bridge and we're about 1/2 mile down on the right. It's a long dinghy ride but the river is interesting. Our phone number is 305.635.7377. I haven't got a sign on the river side of the building yet, so just give us a call when you pass through the little swing bridge and we'll come out to meet you. I think you'll find we have the best prices in town on marine supplies. If you call ahead or email me your list, I can be sure to have everything you need waiting.

Re: Affordable in Miami Beach?

You can anchor in quite a few spots off Miami Beach. I like the area around the Collins Canal. Good dink tie-up in the canal or by the marine police. Three supermarkets within walking distance and all of South Beach right there.

Yes the rates being spoken of as "high" sound like normal NE rates for places no one wants to go to.
