3,000 Members and growing!!!
Congratulations to everyone that has help create such a great knowledge sharing community on Cruisers Forum! We just hit 3,000 members today.
Anyone want to guess when we will hit 5,000?
(My guess is March 5, 2007)

Excellent resource! Timely, current and very active! I've been searching for a site like that for awhile....now I've got even better! You guys!!!!! Everyone is very thorough and quick to respond. Great info and experience from the collective mind of Cruiser's Forum. I'm referring everyone I know with the passion of cruising, sailing and doing it/understanding yourself.

With more knowledgeable sailors aboard this forum. The response time is shorter.
This forum has in it's past. Has had it's up's & down's. But you cannot beat this forum by far!!

Greetings Andy
Kay says she thinks you will hit 5000 by November 30th!
TCP Bob's critical mass theory of web production says she could be right... and I've learned not to argue with her anyway...
Cheers Mate

TCP Bob,
Tell Kay I said hello!
5,000 by November 30th, Hmmm... That would be some crazy growth, but that would be great (as long as our quality of members keeps up like it has been).
We have been growing with lots of experienced sailors that have a broad range of skillsets. It really is amazing to have so many minds in one place to exchange knowledge.
Hey I never posted photos from when we met at the boat show. Here are a few...
(FYI - for those of you who don't know, Bob is the handsome one in the photo top left. I am on the top right). Can you tell who is the sailor and who is the computer guy?

Brazil?!? sounds delicious!
Handsome?! Please note who got the close-up and who (appropriately) didn't! But thanks for the thought!
You are probably a better puter guy than I am a sailor boy... I wish I knew how to get photos on a post like that!
I think the growth could become expotential here.. Kay is usualy right on these things... she's damned annouying that way.
Cheers

I hate to be a detractor from the glory but when checking through the member list there are probably 300 active board members and over 2k who haven't logged on in over a year including myself.
Don't take me wrong but there was a long period that this board was pretty dead and a lot of the early joiners forgot about it.
Scroll through the member list and check the number of posts folks have and the last time they logged on.
It was 18 months for me and before this one I had a grand total of 4 posts before this one.
It has developed into a great board with some great threads and those who are the prolific posters should take pride in that. Congrats on that.

Welcome back.
What brought you back to the Forum, after such a long absence?

I hope I don't step on any toes or hurt any feelings. This is where I come when I need technical advice. When it comes to technical adice none of the other boards can hold a candle to you.
You guys do a great job and while I don't post much. I do read this board serveral times a week. That said, old members not coming back is bad news. There is a differance between members and active members.
Just a thought, but would a mass email invitation back help with that. Just something that says we miss you, come on back in for a visit. Or maybe setting the board up to auto email birthday wishes? That would serve as a reminder that we're still here.

Gord, You have to give credit for that to Daddy's Dream. We were in a chat room a few minutes ago and he mentioned the forum and I said that I had joined it in the very early days but hadn't followed it.
I belong to 5 forums and sometimes I tend to be more active on one than the others or loose interest in one because of the loss of activity or the direction the site takes.
Also the fact that my old laptop and the home computer both crashed about the same time I stopped dropping in here are probably the largest factor. That's my excuse and I'm stickin to it

I plan to send monthly newsletters but need to get an opt-out feature setup. I hope to send that out in the next month. I think it will really help bring back some old members that will be delighted to see their community/message board/forum with all the life it has today...

Like Rob I joined early on, posted a bit and then spent time elsewhere.
I may very well make this my only place to spend time talking boats and such.
Nice group of folks here.

Wow Bob! You were the 9th person to join Cruisers Forum! Nice to have you back. Did you personally know Gisle or did you just happen to cross paths back when the site was first created?

It will be interesting to hear how Bob found the CruisersForum. I knew Bob (not Gisle), and he (Bob) turned me on to the Forum (for which, I thank him). At one time, Bob & I were dock-neighbours and Mango-hunting buddies in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Gisle lives in Norway.
FWIW,
Gord
