Yacht registration

We could possibly be on the brink of buying a boat!!
Really exciting stuff. Something we know nothing about would be the best place to register it. This is our first boat purchase.
We are South African and I am a non-resident British citizen.
We are trying to avoid registering it as a South African boat, so looking for advice on other options, taking into account ease and speed of registration, and cost. The yacht is currently US registered.
We will be cruising so VAT isn't really too much of an issue as we don't intend to stay in any one country for an extended period.

I would advise you go for the UK Part1 registration for which you qualify..
