Where do foiling craft land?

With the increase in sailing vessels using foils I have been wondering where they sit in the stand-on/stand-off hierarchy? Are they considered Wing in Ground? I suspect not since I believe the definition of WIG craft is that it is capable of being entirely out of the water and since the foil is still in contact with the water I don't think it qualifies. Are they treated like any other sailing vessel in stand-on/off situations? Are they considered limited to maneuver when up on their foil? I have been treating them like any other sailing vessel but it would be good to know what my expected behavior should be when encountering one in close quarters.

Well I dunno but I certain that they are not WIG and that only leaves them to be sailing vessels which when you think about it, it is what they are. They need water, sails and wind - just like the rest of us.

I think maybe when I see my first one, I’ll think about it, but I’m not holding my breath.
My opinion is it’s a sailboat, a fast one, but still a sailboat.

When we race the foiling catamarans we’re still bound by the same stand-on/give way rules as the rest of the fleet, except we’re allowed to hit marks.
