Hopefully they'll get rid of that TWIT card, sorry, I meant TWIC card. That is a seriously useless thing.

ALL countries should adopt this stance.
There would be much less piracy.

Wao!... Do you think that the USA should rule the all other countries, impose its firearm openeness and impose the idea that 'Stand Your Ground' can be extended to all other countries?. Seen from outside, America has a huge firearm and an even greater problem with its perception of the real world. 30 thousand deaths by firearms per year should at least raise some toughts about the the consequence of this firearm liberal laws.
Your are unique regarding firearm issues, so please don't try to change the world to make it look like your 350 millions guns rich USA. By the way, just going hunting (with long guns)in USA requires a lot of paper works and controls at border, and I don't believe that travelling by boat in the States with guns is even thinkable!. That is good, as it is with all other countries that restrict firearm on board.

Re: Trump looking to simplify regulations

I would expect that any changes will be more for the benefit of the large shipping companies than for us little guys. So far, most of the regulation cuts have been for the big corporations at the expense of the environment, or for privatizing schools so his big donors can make even more money. I do think the Jones act should be changed, but not to lower our standards, but to make all of the cruise ships that are based and run out of the United States use our regulations rather than the technical scam of being based here but running over to the Bahamas as a first stop or San Diego to Ensenada to avoid our laws. There are too many regulations but cutting should not be according to how much money is donated to either political party. I wonder when this thread will get shut down? ____Grant.

There has been some comment in this forum about interference from municipal and state police on federal waterways in the US. This might be our chance to do something concrete about getting them off our water, in favour of USCG patroling.
You posted it, it said commerce. Somehow, I don't think getting the locals out of you hair is relevant.

Then why not reciprocity, and all foreing vessels are sovereing when in Us waters, and carry as much registerd ( in their country of origin) guns as they like. That will never happen.

Once you see how homeland agents (borders , customs,...) treat turists in any port of entry to US , don't pretend to be treated politely when you travel abroad.

That's sounds logical, however I believe it may be more on the economic side. Maybe as small as how many ABs are required onboard a US flagged ship. Maybe something allowing ship building to return to the States?
Trump is a business man. He would probably be the first to admit he knows nothing about shipping.
I had a friend that was asked to be, and was, on the board of directors for a large Ship Yard. His comment was I know nothing about that business, it was his business expertise not his ship yard knowledge.
