Unhappy Sailing the Caribbean with Vietnamese partner

Hello, my Vietnamese partner and I are starting to plan a trip to the Caribbean.
Wonder if anyone has info or advice regarding checking in and out of multiple islands with a Vietnamese passport.

Thanks

Except for Cuba, Dominica (21 days), Haiti (90 days), Panama (180 days), and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (21 days), your partner's Vietnamese passport is pretty much "stuffed" in the Caribbean without numerous VISA applications.

In fact, it's pretty much stuffed worldwide except for areas of the South Asian rim and parts of the South Pacific. Not very good news for cruising around. In regard to the VISA Restrictions Index, Vietnam ranks 81st worldwide (ouch!).

Yes, it's not thei best passport in the world. Vietnam have opened up a lot recently ie Europeans can now enter for 15 days without a visa (work or holiday). I gues it will get better with ricipocal agreements eventually.

I was hoping it was different for ships crew signing in on a boat.

Thanks for the links and I will keep investigating.

I wouldn't plan on that happening any time soon. Probably best (easiest) to blow off the Caribbean and just take your girlfriend sailing around Asia and The Philippines. Or marry her, and get her a new passport.

Hmmm, that is awkward. i haven't been to Haiti but you could still have a really great time cruising St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Cuba.

Flixtone. Don't be completely put off by these responses. Its a matter of advance planning, choosing favourable island nations and knowing where the consulate/embassy's are to allow your partner to get her visas. Sure it may be more effort than us europeans or americans but its entirely possible. you need to do some homework though.

Most French islands should be a problem with computer check ins on all of those. St martin. St barts, Guadeloupe. The saints. Martinique. I think Grenada is ok as well

It is a real headache--I know a couple of cruisers with Thai partners who stopped cruising because of the visa problems. One married the girlfriend, but it was going to take 5 years for her to get a British passport. The other moved to Thailand.

I can't imagine many problems....may be fun.
the important issues will be which island will be your beginning point and after that simply keeping up with check in checl out for each place.

Fun in entering a foreign country without the proper visa on hand?
