I have zero sympathy for dickheads on jetskis and powerboats roaring around barely in control because they cannot operate the vessel they are driving..
Someone I knew, the sister of a friend.. was killed and one of her sons injured in Cozumel, Mexico back in 2000 by a rich twat driving his boat. His crewman took the rap after being paid to do the time..
I hope this twat gets the maximum sentence for what he did in Cuba.

Oh...your mean just like Italy did with that poor girl from Seattle. They already had the guy in jail who committed the murder but she served two years in jail, several retrials and they are still stringing her out such that she must be careful about the countries she travels in on the chance that she might be arrested and extradited to Italy.

In Europe this was an excellent example of "hate the American". In Cuba maybe its "Hate the Gringo"

That was a convoluted case with many twists and turns in it.. buga all to do with hate the american. Being american was likely what got her out after two years.. I believe the italian guy and other woman are still doing time.
This is straightforward bad driving that ended in a death.. possible showing off that went bad.
Wont be the first time.

Yikes! I'll bet four years in a Cuban prison is no walk in the park.

Re: Quebec tourist convicted in Cuba 2nd time after fatal boating accident

How would the man's family be reacting if he were the one killed and the woman was piloting the craft? He was liable as an adult just as if he were driving a car. He should be voluntarily sitting in jail while his appeal goes on. Cuban law is strict in many ways. As crazy as the road conditions, carts, bicycles, cars, trucks , buses, crowds, etc. are, there are very few accidents. People pay attention because they will get a stiff penalty for mistakes, much less take an innocent life. Know that before you come to Cuba. The Canadian government should stay out of it.

Have spent the last decade living in those places (Qatar, UAE) where you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent, and in other places (Syria) where you are beaten until you prove yourself innocent.

One thing I have to admit is that it makes everyone behave themselves a whole lot better. Crime rates much lower. Really Draconian I suppose.

I am getting very tired of the sarcastic, flippant, trivial comments on various posts. They are a distraction from the subject matter and even worse, they are juvinile. Could I suggest to these jokers that they join a comedy forum and see how long they last. Moderators, can you please ask them to desist.

Wow, that will seriously limit your travel options. Where exactly are you holding up as some great bastion of human rights?

In the end, no mater CUBA, US, Canada, Quatar, their sandbox, their rules. Heck in the US we have 51 sandboxes and they are not all the same sand! (50 states and the feds. Of course there are also the territories.)

Does that soon rule out the US?

I would like to know what "when it veered out of control" means.
