live aboard regulations

Does anyone have any information about regulations living aboard a yacht in New Zealand waters?
I am currently in NSW Australia where there are strict regulations about number of nights you can stay onboard if an Australian registered vessel.

Jenny, I'd suggest you correspond with Cath & Ken on FELICITY, a Tahsiba 31 cutter that's now in your neighborhood but spent two off-seasons and the intervening summer in NZ. You can find their website at www.svfelicity.com...and you'll find a write-up they did of their stay there, logistics issues and so forth.

Based on the large number of foreign yachts that go there every year - and the total absence of comment I've heard about 'regulations' being an issue - I suspect you'll find living aboard to be not uncommon at many marinas.

Noonsite.com certainly doesn't list any restrictions specific to living aboard. There are phone numbers listed you may wish to try and contact.

After you have turned right at the top of NZ and cleared customs, probably in the Bay of Islands be sure to visit the Tutukaka South Pacific Yact Club. Michael Casling
