I have not yet gone through the process of registering a vessel in Langkawi but from my
research it seems they do not ask for a title. What!?
I am new to foreign
boat transactions. I am aware some US states do not require a title but it seems odd that Langkawi only requires foreign
registration.
*1.* Application of Approved Name or Change of Name (if applicable)
*2.* Application to Register Yacht***
*3.* Declaration of
Ownership.* ***This is just a Malaysian form*located here
http://www.marine.gov.my/jlm/pic/art...nership_L7.pdf ***
*4.* Particulars of Yacht.****They seem to be referring to
ownership in case of entity ownership***
One copy of other items required from either originals or copies:*
*5.* Copy of front page of passport.
*6.* Builder's Cerificate (only if a new construction).
*7.* Bill of
Sale. (from when you bought the boat)
*8.* Copy of Certificate of Previous
Registration (whether
current or expired)**
*9.* Deletion Certificate (from country*where present registration was cancelled)*
10. Colour photograph of
boat. (printout*of close-up*digital shot is okay)
Follow up question. If I
purchase a boat in a foreign country, register it in Langkawi, then register in US to sell in US; how do I obtain a title for a previously untitled vessel? My brain is already fried just thinking about it!
I will be continuing my
research into these matters with Langkawi and US DMV but any help from someone whose actually familiar is ALWAYS appreciated!
Thanks,
-TC
