Now you tell me the figure you are asking for... I think you pose a pretty zynical question here.

Btw. 58% of murders in 2016 happened in Brazil, India, Nigeria, Mexico, DR Kingo, South Africa, Venezuela, USA, Columbia and Pakistan. Not a single European country made the list.
Now you go and figure where its safer....

Btw. I have lived in 7 countries and some pretty decent sized cities and not just in Europe.

Europe is descending slowly and people are becoming more and more uncomfortable there. Look at the election results of the last few years and you'll see there is a lot of pressure building up in Europe... look at the Brexit, France, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Chech Republic - even Sweden, Danmark, Spain / Catalonia, also the liberal Netherlands have their "heros" rising - you name it.

Yes, it is still kind of safe, but honestly, I do not know how Europe will look like in 5 or 10 years - I guess one day there will be a big bang if the influx and the tensions between the countries and the Euro / Interest rates of the ECB / debts of the south - continues on this path on the next years without a correction.

But back to the tread. Yes, you can travel Europe - despite some travel warnings of the US for big cities - still quite safely - especially after standing the threats of the African passage through the Red Sea and Somalian / Yemen waters - you will enjoy your time there in the Med for sure.

But Europe has changed the last few years, you'll notice this if you've been there 10 years ago - you'll see the difference quite quickly.

Never said that Europe has not changed. But the whole world has... not at last due to some unresponsibly started wars.

Have you ever lived in Europe? Must be a different one than the one I have lived in.

But lets not start that discussion.

Show some numbers, why any cities/towns of the quoted countries are more dangerous than the nice peaceful Parkland, Fl...

Not saying that the situation can't be better, but highly recommend that pinch of salt before reading various political agendas. Statistics gives some guidance here - as for myself, I follow that...

Gulf of Aden is a risk IMHO. Yachts are passing through this area every year but last year "incidents" involving ships rose sharply from previous years. I think there was 16 reported incidents.

Two weeks ago there was a ship attacked and a yacht felt threatened enough to send out a mayday and received military assistance and escort,military even supplied additional fuel for them.

Atoll is correct, air assistance will arrive promptly if you have a Sat phone but can air assistance really do much? It took approximately 1 hour for a navy vessel to arrive to this particular yacht.

I think it's a difficult risk to mitigate, you'd most likely be fine but could be unlucky.

I would recommend consulting the NOONSITE site.
There is no danger INMHO in crossing Suez. It will be a considerable bureaucratic issue and you must have a local agent to arrange fees and timing.
The real danger will be to pass Yemen & Somali coasts. You may seek on the web more boats interested to create a flotilla.
You will not normally meet refugee vessels in the Med and if you do - you cannot and should not be involved except calling authorities/NATO on VHF/Satphone.

"Nothing serious" in the sense that Europe has an extremely low violent crime rate. Of course, each crime is serious, but they are so infrequent (like death by terrorist attack) that a traveler or cruiser in Europe has nothing to worry about.
