Holding tank requirement for Panama canal transit

Hello,

we are about to get our boat measured in preparation for the Panama canal transit.

We have a holding tank but it's not connected to the head.

Does anyone know if having a working holding tank is a strict requirement for doing the canal transit? Do they check this?

Question: Do you have a holding tank?
Answer: Yes

Large vessels without a sewage treatment system are not allowed to anchor in Lake Gatun and need to be scheduled straight through. Lake Gatun is the water source for Panama City.

Just replying to my own question, having gone through the canal now.
Simply answer yes when they ask if you have a holding tank. They didn't check..
