Help! Last minute query on buying our boat

Hi All, We are having our boat surveyed in about an hour. It is likely that we will buy it and I have assumed (as we are UK citizens) that SSR Part 3 registration will be fine.

However, last night i saw that you have to be in the UK for 183 days ... does that mean every year that you own the boat?? or just the year when you register it? We are now totally confused as we intend to be away on it for most of the next year.
