"suffering from a bad hangover"
Wait. You mean, there are good-versus-bad hangovers, and after all these years, no one has ever bothered telling me how to go about having a GOOD hangover?

*** UPDATED EMAIL ***

Recreational vessel owners who wish to renew for more than one year may do so by including additional fees in the amount of $26.00 per extra year requested, and annotating same on the CG-7042 Credit Card Form, or in the Memo line of checks.

For more information, please open the Instruction document corresponding to your needs, found under the Instructions and Forms tab on our website.

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

Seems it requires going through the mail. I went to pay.gov and it did not allow me to change the amount or write a memo. I'll worry about it next year. Time used, 8 minutes.

The Coast Guard hasn't updated their online system to allow for multi year renewal. The only way to do it for now is via regular mail and submitting the renewal form. Once their system is updated then you'll be able to renew online. It will take some time to make these changes.

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

We did a three-year. They charged for three years and issued a one year annual document as usual and noted they would send a new annual each year.

THIS IS WORTHLESS!

If they can’t issue a document good for the full number of years which you pay for the problem of connecting with a piece of paper somewhere on earth still haunts us.

It is fortunate that most customs agents here in the Caribbean don’t care.

When did you renew?

And with whom?

I know some of the scam renewal "services" offer multi-year options. Presumably they just submit it for you each year. If they're still in business.

That's what I thought may have happened since this option from the Coast Guard just started at the beginning of December and to my knowledge anyone submitting on day 1 still hadn't received their certificate yet. I could be wrong.

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

My current Doc. expires 1/31/2019; I mailed my Doc. renewal form and check on 12/27. It's been snagged in the shutdown, and I'm concerned that I will be charged a late fee, or even an $84 renewal charge if the shutdown continues 31 days past my expiration date. I'm debating whether I should renew online now in order to have some tangible evidence that I complied with the deadlines. This from the NVDC website: "TRANSACTIONS SUBMITTED VIA THIS WEBSITE MIGHT NOT BE PROCESSED". Any thoughts?

Here is what I found. I would call their customer service center to verify but it appears that Recreational Documentation is still being processed.

"The shutdown is greatly impeding activities related to vessel construction, sales, repairs, and financing. While recreational vessels may still be documented, persons seeking to purchase and document commercial vessels with the U.S. Coast Guard, or obtain mortgage loans on documented vessels, cannot currently do so. Likewise, lenders and other creditors cannot obtain information about vessel mortgages and liens needed for vessel financing transactions, and cannot record mortgages against vessels to secure loans."

https://www.winston.com/en/maritime-...-shutdown.html

I've seen notices that any commercial documentation that expires during the shutdown won't be issued late fees or fines. Again, call the customer service number for verification.

Please let us know what they say. Thanks!

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

I tried calling them at the time I mailed in the renewal but got a message stating the call center was closed during the shut down. Somewhat reassuring to hear that commercial doc renewals will not be fined; hopefully same applies to recreational. Seems I'll have to wait until the glovie reopens to see what happens.

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

Does anyone know if I can do 5 year documentation renewal online now a year later?
The online form doesn’t seem to allow it.
Am I missing something?

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

I just did mine for one year, but I saw this as I went about it.

From https://www.dco.uscg.mil/Our-Organiz...tation-Center/
click order products on line and renewal.

At https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1175233 visit http://www.uscg.mil/nvdc/ and click on Multi Year... and you will find "Recreational vessel owners who wish to renew for more than one year may do so by including additional fees in the amount of $26.00 per extra year requested, and annotating same on the CG-7042 Credit Card Form, or in the Memo line of checks."

I hope it works for you.

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

That form where you add a note and pay for how many years you want to is only for mailing in.
Online it only looks like one year available.
And I am in Singapore so would rather do it online

Re: Five Year USCG Documentation Guidelines

Since I did not pay for more than one year, I don't really know, but...

The form on Pay.gov is titled USCG Document Renewal (or something like that) and has a comment line. I had imagined that payment there for multiple years and an appropriate statement on the comment line of the form would work.

What I can see on-line for my transaction now is this on the opening page:
Payment Activity:
USCG Vessel Documentation Payment Form
Homeland Security: US Coast Guard Finance Center
Pay.gov Tracking ID: 26LVNRO2
Transaction Date: 12/05/2019 08:50:48 PM EST
Transaction Amount: $26.00
Payment Type: Debit or credit card
Transaction Status: Success
Payment Date: 12/05/2019
Frequency: One Time

and the on-line receipt shows....
