Cuba

Curious what the latest requirements are to cruise Cuba. What permissions are still required and how to obtain?

Re: Cuba

I'm also very interested in this. Looking forward to reading the responses. Thanks for asking about this.

Re: Cuba

For americans, Fill out cg3300, submit to coastguard, wait for permission, set sail. For others, set sail. You can read a bit about it on our blog if you like.

Re: Cuba

Thanks, but what about the OFAC license, is that still required?

No, not if you qualify under one of the 12 categories. Takes less than two weeks to obtain your answer after submitting your application.

Re: Cuba

Thanks again but I don't quite see how to apply any of the 12 to my purpose of just being a "visiting cruiser". How did you proceed?

I went as a journalist and wrote several articles about Cuba for my blog. And as an aside, don't worry about the rush to see it before it changes. It will be many years before any big changes.

Just visiting is not an acceptable reason for going. Your travel must fall into one of the twelve categories. Of course, some of the categories are rather vague, and the definitions can be stretched to cover most situations.
