Cruising East Timor

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the cruising world, but recently purchased a Ketch with a friend in Sydney Australia. This June we are planning a trip up the East coast of Australia, on to East Timor, and then continuing through the Indian Ocean. I've been looking into the Visa requirements for East Timor and it seems relatively simple. However, I'm having trouble figuring out if we need a cruising permit. We are planning on staying in Dili for around a month. I understand that East Timor is independent from Indonesia, but given the proximity of Indonesia, would we need a Indonesian cruising permit?? Any help or knowledge from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
