Panamanian-flagged ship “MSC Zoe” ➥ https://www.maritime-executive.com/a...s-in-north-sea

3 of these containers contain organic peroxides, which can be dangerously reactive. They can decompose very rapidly or explosively if they are exposed to only slight heat, friction, mechanical shock or contamination with incompatible materials. Those 3 containers, as of 1200 UTC, weren’t yet located.
Yellow container number MSCU3713629, blue container number CXDU2077321 and a rust brown container number TCLU41747408. Those locating dangerous containers are asked to call 112. 21
A bag containing 25 kilogrammes (55 pounds) of powder was found on the beach of Schiermonnikoog.

Re: Container Ship Loses Up To 270 Containers

"up to 270 containers" sounds ominous to me, as in they hadn't counted all of them as of the time of the report, and there could be more or less depending on the weather's influence on the boat....

Word on the street is that, after a partial discharge in Antwerp, the stacks hadn't been re-secured for the short hop up to Bremerhaven.

They should be responsible for locating and securing every last container.

Happens more often than we know, according to a merchant mariner friend of mine.

Re: Container Ship Loses Up To 270 Containers

Containers are lost pretty much every year. Seldom from U.S. flag ships, but it could happen when carelessness or greed prevail, and poor routing is used or inadequate lashing. And DOES happen to other ships in this fiercely competitive industry.
